Consider This Life

I want to erase everything that I am.

I want to smear it
all over these pages
until it's nothing,
not even a blur on
the outskirts of my memory.

Yesterday I stayed after school for an Envirothon meeting, and learned something, for once. I’m feeling a lot more confident in my ability to identify trees, and I have got the leaves of the bigtooth and quaking aspen down. I an even tell the difference between the two!

Though there was a rather funny incident before practice. Chris and I were heading up an empty stairwell, and pulled off to the side away from the view of the doors, just to get in a little peck. It doesn’t take more than a second to do… Walk to the side, peck, walk back to the doors, but who comes in at that exact wrong moment?

Mr. Mallory, 9th grade history teacher.

Fortunately, he didn’t actually see us necking, because the sound of the doors caused us to jump apart, but he did say “What are you two doing back there?”

And little gossipper that he is, Mrs. Morris, the 9th grade English teacher and drama and color guard advisor, heard about it and was joking to me after school today.

Riiiiidiculous, I tell you. I’m a good kid.

Then today, from 6-9, I had SAT Prep classes. They’re all the way in Conneaut Valley, approximately a half hour’s drive away, but Tanya and I are going to share rides. It’s rather nice, as we don’t see each other as much anymore. Gives us good time to talk and bond.

The classes themselves aren’t too bad, just boring. Tanya and I are the only ones from our school, and we know none of the other kids. But the two teachers are from our school, so between the four of us we have some giggles.

And free food! Half-way through we break for snacks, and we get apple juice and these delightful peanut butter cookies. I had three juice cartons (which are small), and at least five cookies (which aren’t), though I could have easily had more if I had wanted to.

Deeeeeelicious.
