Consider This Life

I want to erase everything that I am.

I want to smear it
all over these pages
until it's nothing,
not even a blur on
the outskirts of my memory.

I am so excited for the Lipsync! Sincerely and honestly!

Now, most of the stress is done. No more props. No more figuring out. Just doing, again and again and again. And the performing is the best part of it.

And the gods are with us. Tonight up at Tanya’s house while making the big sheet (“Broadway Baby”), we were listening to the radio. And what comes on?

On Broadway.

It’s a sign. We’re winning. There’s no other possible explaination.

The sign turned out well, and we realized that Tanya’s garage has a treasure trove of spraypaints, so there’s no need to buy more next year.

In addition to this sign, there’s going to be stars, which we cut from cardboard and sprayed pink and purple. We totally decked them out in glitter, too. They’re quite awesome.

Those are our only props, really, and I’m a little worried about that portion of our score. I hope other groups aren’t too impressive in that department.

I have seen some of the groups, and there are only two others which I think might give us competition, though one of those I haven’t seen. It is hard to tell, though, and sometimes surprising decisions pop up at the big performance.

I do hope we place, though, since we’ve only gotten third place twice in our five years of doing it. It would be a little embarassing to be juniors and not place.
