Consider This Life

I want to erase everything that I am.

I want to smear it
all over these pages
until it's nothing,
not even a blur on
the outskirts of my memory.

Internet issues are hopefully finally gone!

The internet over the past month has been a fickle friend- never up for more than a couple hours at a time. My family has switched providers, and hopefully things look up.

In the space that I was gone, lots has happened. I’ve worked more, I took on a role one week before the play (I got to be trailer trash!), and I’ve written a seven page research paper.

SATs on Saturday. Long drive, because I turned in my stuff late.

…consider this my life.

Fun day.

Three day weekend to look forward to. I work twice, and hopefully I’ll be seeing lotsandlotsandlots of Chris.

Today was our six-month! Super exciting. We weren’t even going to be getting together, but I arranged for us to go rollerblading.

…well, by rollerblading I mean taking an hour to go down my street, while he tried to explain how to move my feet.

Didn’t go so well in that respect, but it was a great deal of fun. I love that boy.

After we went home, he played Heroscape with his family, so I took the opportunity to progress my Sims game. Oh the joys of Simdom.

Open-mindedness

A look at some of the flawed thinking that prompts people who believe in certain non-scientific concepts to advise others who don’t to be more open-minded.

…I just realized that roman numeral thirty is XXX. I’ll try to do something interesting for that.

Dull day, really. Showed my English teacher the roughdraft of my outline for the research paper. We’re going to be learning about the Rwanda genocide tomorrow in government; hopefully I don’t cry. I stayed after school for an Envirothon meeting, but Chris had to be practicing for jazz band, as they had a concert tonight. He’s still at it.

Stupid boy. He knows when he leaves he takes my heart with him.

I talked to my guidance counselor about my class schedule, also, which was good. My schedule is packed full of sciences, which is ironic since I’m considering becoming an English teacher. But it’s essentially how I wanted things to go, so I’m fine with it.

I’m considering taking online college classes at the same time, but I want to spend some more time thinking about that, since I would have to devote a lot of time to that.

Mostly, I’m anticipating our short Easter break. Really, we just have Friday off school, but any reprieve is a welcome one in my book.

These roman numerals throw me through a loop. I suppose it’ll be good for me in the long-run.

Last Wednesday I attended a festival at YSU, where everyone was supposed to read the same seven books, and activities were done based upon them.

I, for example, started the day with a writing competition. However, we were really late, and I had only twenty minutes for an essay everyone else had an hour for.

Then I went to writing games, where we were put in groups, and had to create a new plot line and characters out of a combination of plots and characters from the books. Ours included thumbless aunts, wild dogs, and just a pinch of magic.

Time for lunch after that! Which was craaaaazy. The lines were so long, and the people at 105 ignored our order, so we had to go over and wait in line at KFC… Really crazy! I almost didn’t eat at all, since I spent all the money I had on books. (I can’t resist when books are involved!) I did start to get lightheaded in the line, though, and Chris lended me a few dollars so I could eat. Thank god for Chris. <333

After that I walked across campus, and attended a presentation on some new, awesome books. I have a long list to read, now:

  • Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson
  • wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
  • The Hunger Game by Suzanne Collins
  • A Curse Dark as Gold by somepersonIcouldn’twritedownfastenough
  • Poison Ink by Christopher Golden
  • Wake by Lisa McMann
  • Fade by Lisa McMann
  • The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
  • Softwire series by PJ Haarsma (There’s a free online video game to go with it!)
  • The Host by Stephanie Meyer
  • Artemis Fowl… I’ve never read it, been meaning to for forever

Plus, I’d like to read some more books by the authors of the books we had to read for the festival.

Anyway, after that I attended a lecture on Japanese internment in WWII, which should have been interesting but was actually extraordinarily dull. It was a struggle to stay awake, which doesn’t happen to me often.

There were cash prizes and free books given out as prizes for some of the activities, but I didn’t get anything. It was a shame. I wanted another book.

…just so you’re filled in.

It was an exciting day.

The long bus ride was nice, too, since Chris was there. And the backs of the seats were high. Just sayin’.

Internet is STILL being a pain.

Makes it difficult to do anything, let alone keep a regular blog. However, it has started to be a tad nicer, so hopefully I can keep the dust off this little fellow.

Life has continued at its usual pace.

Academic Challenge was last Saturday. My team won our first two matches, which is incredible. Farther than our po’dunk little school has ever gotten before. In the next match, we were put up against a school that’s won 7 out of the 13 matches held in our area. We were decimated. (Fortunately, I only participated in the first two matches, so I was saved from televised embarassment.)

I have come out of that experience with a new desire to positively pwn next year. I have a list of subjects I’m going to focus on, which might give us an edge come next year.

We’ve been rollerblading in gym for the past couple weeks. I cannot move. I’ve somehow avoided falling up until now, but it’s a miracle. However, Chris has an old pair of blades which he thinks might fit me, and he’s going to train me up. I’ll be a pro in no time.

…speaking of Chris, come Thursday it will have been six months. HALF A YEAR! 180 DAYS! SIX MONTHS!

I have never been happier.
